Donate to Women in Arts Leadership

Coriolis is a unique dance company, founded by two women, Natascha and Christin created meaningful works that challenge audiences to re-examine the legacy of ballet and ways of moving progressively towards the future of this dance form. Our current artistic team continues their vision and mission in every decision we make.

Our mission is to create stories about the multifaceted human experience, celebrating strength, vulnerability, resilience, and softness. By supporting us you support works that are vulnerable and complexly-styled spectacles, interweaving contemporary ballet and immersive multimedia. We create pieces meant to cause impact, inspire change, and connect with each individual audience member in a meaningful way. Your support is what brings our stories to life.

"Coriolis’ egalitarian, female-forward sensibility is no coincidence, but the fruit of collaborative female leadership, and that is radical in the often male-led, hierarchical ballet world. If you love ballet, go to Coriolis for the gorgeous dancing, stay to support independent women artists."

Coriolis Dance is Radically Rising, taking what we’ve learned from our 13 years and striving for more growth and deeper connection. Join us as we rise anew with fresh hearts, new visions, and reinvigorated passion. In our fourteenth season we are raising $12,000 as part of our annual letter campaign. With a goal to build for sustainability this is only a part of our season’s goal of raising $50,000. We’re creating two new works, hiring ten different dance artists, and countless other artistic collaborators from installation artists to composers and more. As the obstacles from COVID-19 continue we are committed to paying working artists fairly and producing the programing you all love.

Coriolis is moving forward and discovering ways to grow in a climate where the performing arts is still deeply impacted by the pandemic. To me, the work Coriolis creates inspires human connection through shared experiences, and we value our connection with you, our community. This year we hope to engage and connect with you more, beyond our digital platform, through in-person experiences that we can share together. Your support is invaluable as we work towards our return to live performance.

About the Project

Sur/thriving will be a deep dive into consumerism, materialism, and pollution. Set in a world almost consumed by recycled materials, the viewer follows the timeline of two individuals who live in this habitat. Watch as the world slowly begins to fill and see how it impacts their ability to thrive in this polluted environment. As the world fills they too change, becoming entangled by nets, plastic bags and other items that are surrounding them.

Inspired by the habitats currently seen around the world, the goal of this work is to open the artistic teams’ eyes as well as the audience’s eyes to how their actions impact the world. The cast and choreographer will be collecting a month’s worth of materials to help fill this space. Becoming a visual representation of each of our impact. Inspiration for this dance film came from both photos of habitats that have become overrun with trash, as well as other similarly themed performance art and installations.

Giving Tuesday

November 30th 2021

For Giving Tuesday this year we will be livestreaming the creation of a new dance film in a single day. Yes, we’re building a new work from start to finish all in one day, and you’ll get to experience the entire process. Watch live on YouTube while we create the set, costumes, and choreography all in the span of 9 hours. Our goal is to raise a total of $3,000 to cover the costs of dancer’s pay, choreographer’s pay, and materials with the remainder going towards our Radically Rising Season.
